How the route works
Your PC connects to a relay, and the relay to the game server.
- Server region
- Where the game's servers are. You pick it.
- Relay
- Our server near the game servers. Your game traffic reaches it over WireGuard and goes on from there.
- Fastest
- The default. When you connect, Lagvolt picks the relay with the lowest ping from your PC to the game servers. It re-tests every 5 minutes and uses the newest results the next time you connect.
- Busy relays
- Fastest skips a relay at 90% load or more when a less busy one is available.
- Your pick
- Prefer a relay? Choose it on the app's Servers screen, which shows each relay's ping and load.
What goes through the relay
Game only is the default. Change it in Settings > Network > Traffic mode.
| Traffic | Game only | All traffic |
|---|---|---|
| Anything on AWS and Google Cloud in that region, game servers included | Relay | Relay |
| Valve's network near that region | Relay | Relay |
| Game servers anywhere else | Direct | Relay |
| Most downloads, streams and browsing | Direct | Relay |
